This blog is intended to be self-educating however I hope that it can be interesting to a notional reader.

It is inspired by Daisuke Beppu, who can be found on You Tube among other places, and who’s never failing courtesy, imagination and brilliance as a communicator of the stuff of film has been my education.

The films that I am interested in are broad in subject, genre, origin and era. I am a collector of film on bluray and DVD but also take every opportunity to see films on the big screen.

While I will not simply provide plot summaries, I think that I must provide a spoiler alert. I will give an overall thumb sketch of the film, which will not contain spoilers but the analysis in detail probably will.

My responses to films will be personal and contain detail however I don’t anticipate writing formal reviews or academic essays. I acknowledge at this stage that there are films which are beyond me in terms of analysis. The educative purpose of the blog is that I hope that in time I will be able to write informatively on a film like Persona.
